Ethics and sustainability are not abstract concept, but a virtuous path Huwell Chemicals undertook many years ago, with the installation of
state-of-the-art safety systems to protect the health of its workers, and investing in
solar panels to guarantee maximum self-sufficiency to the second warehouse.
Since then, our commitment to the happiness and satisfaction of our stakeholders grew stronger and it is shaping HC mindset towards our entire activity.
At the beginning our mission was to provide the very best hair bleaching products for hair colourists to give them the right tools to lighten hair locks all over the world. Yet now at Huwell Chemicals we have a new important piece to add to our original mission: to give you the power to brighten the hair with stellar but sustainable bleach.
There is still a lot to do but day after day our products are becoming more and more sustainable. HC runs only on renewable energy to offset our emissions we’re helping reforesting 6 different project.
Huwell Chemicals newest formulations have a lower impact on the environment all our boxes are FSC certified and the flexible packaging options we proposed have a reduced footprint compared to rigid ones.
Every year we report our emission to CDP and answer the Ecovadis questionnaire and since 2022 we’re part of the UN Global Compact Initiative.
SDG3 Starting from 2023 Huwell Chemicals with the support of the organisation aBRCadabra will organise free breast screening for all female workers.
SDG5 In 2021 the percentage of women employed in Huwell reached the 37% (of which 55% in senior positions), our goal is to reach 40% by 2025.
SDG6 Huwell set the target of 5% reduction in the consumption of water by 2027.
SDG7 Huwell Chemicals runs only on renewable energy, and we compensate all the Scope 2 emissions left (location based).
SDG12 HC is developing new vegan bleaches, safe for transportation and with a lower footprint. Our goal is to sell for the 80% of our total turnover only this type of lighteners. The goal is set in 2030.
SDG13 Our goal is to reduce by 3% both Scope 1 and 2 by 2026, and by implementing Science Based targets to better calculate Scope 3 emissions.
SDG15 HC is certified RSPO, all our carboard pack material is certified FSCand we’re constantly expanding our support to reforestation programs.
SDG17 Huwell Chemicals since 2023 is officially part of the Global Compact of the United Nations.
Over the years, we have put in place several initiatives, some small (but effective) and others much more challenging, but all implemented with the aim of increasing the sustainability of our products and meeting the demands of our stakeholders; among them we can list:
• Annual completion of the CDP questionnaire;
• Annual completion of the Ecovadis questionnaire;
• Installation of solar panels for energy self-sufficiency of the warehouse used to store raw materials;
• Purchase of electricity from renewable sources only;
• Reduction in the use of water for washing mechanical components placed on packaging lines;
• Exclusive use of energy-saving LED lamps;
• Installation of a condensing boiler for energy efficiency;
• Offsetting emissions by supporting reforestation projects published on tree-nation.complatform, where the company has a public (Forest) profile;
• Complete elimination of plastic jugs, cups and bottles within the company through:
- Installation of drinking fountains directly connected to the facility's water system;
- Provision of water bottles and telescopic glasses for all employees;
- Use of glass bottles and glasses for visitors' refreshments.
However, with a view to constant improvement, Huwell Chemicals has set further goals to protect the environment, reduce our environmental impact and sustainability.
The achievement and completion of these goals will be measured through the use of KPIs.
Since 2019, we have reduced our Scope 1 emissions by 82.3 %.
We only use energy from renewable sources

In 2020 we produced more energy through solar panels than our warehouse needed (+10%)
From 2019 we reduced water consumption in production by 40 %
With a view to continuous improvement, Huwell Chemicals has set additional goals for environmental protection, reduction of our environmental impact and sustainability that we expect to achieve by 2025:
• 10% reduction in the amount of dangerous waste;
• 5% reduction in Scope 1 emissions through more conscious energy management.
• 5% reduction in Scope 3 emissions related to material delivery.
• 15% reduction of virgin paper consumption in offices.
• Implement separate waste collection in all company offices.
